Drilling rig can be briefly defined as equipment mounted on a trailer.

The functions carried out by separate machines in large drilling rigs are combined in drilling rigs and made possible to be performed by one machine. Rotary drilling rigs are mostly used for water, survey and mining purposes. The drilling process is started from the point which is determined to be the most efficient in terms of groundwater.

Then, when the targeted depth is reached, the drill bit and drill pipes (tij) are taken out and the well is cased with a casing pipe with a diameter smaller than the drill diameter and the well wall and this casing pipe are filled with washed and sieved granulated drilling gravel. The well is then cleaned and developed (with compressed air, pistoning etc.) and made ready for use.
